A curious species, sometimes known as "Touch-Me-Not", that will fold its leaves when touched, returning to normal within minutes, making this a favourite with children and adults alike. Well worth growing as a pot plant for the attractive foliage and pretty pink, fluffy flowers. A short lived perennial that is best grown as an annual.
Also known for its medicinal use, Lajwanti (seeds of Mimosa pudica) are widely used in Ayurveda for their potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and healing properties. According to Ayurveda the powdered seeds are highly effective for treating digestive issues (diarrhea, constipation), managing piles, aiding wound healing, supporting reproductive health, and reducing stress.
Note: Medicinal use of plants requires thorough research. We advise checking with a medical professional particularly if pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication.
Surface Sow: Requires light to germinate. Sow seed on the surface. Press seed down into the soil. Keep moist.
Germination Capacity: An erratic germinator, this variety is naturally low in germination capacity. Up to 60% germination can be expected. The seed has been prior stratified.
